Fire resistant Doors are installed inside buildings to create division among areas/
rooms sealing off one location from the next in case of fire. They can be provided with different accessories to meet all requirements; they can also be multi-functional with safety handle, and can be installed around the building as exit doors.
Firedoors with these characteristics are called REI 60 and REI 120 where REI stands for:
“R” = mechanical resistance keeping door efficient
“E” = capability to stop fire and smoke passing through the door
“I” = thermal insulation the door can keep within 150°C
These firedoors can withstand fire and smoke for some time: for instance REI
60 doors can resist for an hour.
REI firedoors have the following advantages:
- They divide areas/rooms avoiding flame and smoke propagation.
- They are thermally insulated
- They are easy to open enabling a quick escape from fire.
- They must be assembled along an established escape route, and must lead to spaces with -low fire risk.
