HEIDENHAIN's ERN, ECN and EQN rotary encoder models with integral bearing are suited for a range of applications, from simple measuring to position and speed control on servo drives. They are constructed with a hollow shaft design, and can be mounted by simply sliding the product onto the shaft being measured.
The ROD, ROC and ROQ rotary encoder models, on the other hand, have a sealed design, and are equipped with their own bearings. These are integrated from the rotor to the shaft using a separate coupling, which makes up for axial misalignment and motion between the encoder and measured shafts.
