Monarch Instrument presents GE200 HP electromagnetic inductive sensor. It does not require contact. It is used on gasoline engines to take RPM measurements. The sensor can identify high voltage flux field being driven by ignition coils or magnetos on 2- or 4-cycle gasoline engines.
The GE200 HP sensor should be connected to the Monarch amplifier module. This module supplies input power and a TTL pulse output. The sensor features a built-in cable of 15 foot or 5 m, which is extendible up to 150 feet or 50 m. The sensor allows mounting at a distance of up to 12 inches (30 cm) from the magneto or ignition coil. The detection of electromagnetic flux field is done by the sensors using metal engine covers.
To ascertain the correct mounting position, the sensor needs to be moved around the high voltage flux source till the tachometer display shows a stable RPM reading.
