A Faraday Optical Isolator is essentially a magneto-optic device working like a uni-directional light valve. Use it to protect a laser source from destabilizing feedback or actual damage from back-reflected light. Newport offers free space optical isolators packaged in a compact cylinder with a base plate for ease of mounting into an optical train. The LP Series utilizes field proven, high efficiency Corning Polarcor™ polarizers ideal for laser diode applications. The -W suffix in each model indicates an added 1/2 wave plate at the output stage so that the direction of the output beam polarization can be rotated to a desired direction.
