Sensor interfaces are at the heart of many SWINDON ASICs and as such are one of our core competencies. Most of our sensor interfaces include trimming and calibration through software routines and/or dedicated hardware. Some examples are given below:
Inductive
Accurate position sensing through damping of oscillator tank inductors. These include position switches accurate to 10um through to linear position sensors with < 0.5% full scale error
Active and passive RFIDs with bi-directional data communication working in the 125kz band
Resistive
MEMS piezo resistive pressure sensing for TPMS applications
PTC and NTC resistor temperature measurement
Capacitive
MEMS accelerometer circuits with high G range (0-1500G) and mG resolution. Measurement resolution 0.1fF
Measurement of dielectric constant of fluids through impedance measurements. Used in fluid quality sensors
Optical
Photodiode interfaces for many applications using noise optimised trans-impedance amplifiers. These vary from data communications to truly linear systems that include both LED drivers and input stages on the same chip with dark current cancellation.
Magnetic
Interface to GaAs Hall sensors for accurate position sensing
