The AV400 Series functions by using ultraviolet radiation to detect potentially harmful organic materials in water. Specifically, the monitors are designed to detect compounds and chemicals such as Trihalomethanes (THMs), fulvic acids, and humic acids.

The unit's maintenance free and reagentless construction make it suitable for observing quality operations in drinking water treatment plants. This design feature makes the AV400 a cost effective and high performance water treatment tool.

The series offers monitors with either low detection ranges (up to 20 mg/l C), high ranges (up to 100 mg/l C), and mixed ranges, with both high and low detection capacities.
