For materials having low permeability, the High Pressure Densometers are the standard that is accepted for measurement of porosity, air resistance, or air-permeability. Membranes, plastics, coated papers are just a few of the typical materials. When excessive measurement times would be yielded high pressure units are then recommended over a standard unit. Units that are automatic or manual are available. The time required for a specific volume is tested and measured by the densometer for a specific volume of air of 2.5 cc up to 30 cc. A constant pressure of 12.33 inches is being tested that will flow through a standard area of the material.
