The XPLORER-TX/TS is a coulometric total chlorine and total sulfur combustion analyzer that fits into every laboratory environment, whether it is for Commercial Testing Laboratories, Refineries, Chemical or Petrochemical applications. Its unique features enables the operator to handle all sorts of applications without any exception. The XPLORER-TX/TS is the smallest chlorine and sulfur analyzer available in the market. Coulometric determination of Chlorine is a calibration-free, absolute technique. Verification is done with a control standard.

TEIS software ensures that the system is easy to operate. The XPLORER-TX and the XPLORER-TS are also available separately. Contact your local sales representative for more information.
Background

Knowing the exact concentration of total sulfur and total chlorine in certain feeds has always been important for the production processes in refineries.

• Organic chlorines will form hydrochloric acid, this formation needs to be avoided to minimize corrosion in all kinds of towers and furnaces that are used in these processes.

• Residual sulfur in fuel oils will influence emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO2), resulting in plant corrosion and atmospheric pollution if this level is too high. In Europe, the maximum allowed amount of sulfur in diesel has been set at 10 ppm.

• Sulfur in petroleum products is tested because of its presence in various products and the risks of catalyst poisoning. Reducing the sulfur content is vital for the protection of platinum based catalysts in naphtha reforming operations.
