In typical single operating pull cylinders that are used in tough operating conditions, the continuous air exchange with its environment can result in accelerated corrosion particularly on the cylinder workspace. This corresponds to the wear observed on the piston seal. The patent created for BÜTER® Maschinenfabrik GmbH is based on pull cylinders.

This is an effort to improve pressurized pull cylinders so that they can have continuous loading capacity and achieve higher reliability. The air exchange bore has been integrated into the air exchange stop which enables freedom of movement on one side of the piston while the other side provides the seal around the cylinder bottom.
