MD6290 exhibits strong and sturdy design and is fitted with long-lasting components making it ideal for a number of applications, including soft- and hard-rock applications. The machine is noted for delivering 29 000kg of bit load and is integrated with the right amount of force, rotational torque 12 880 N•m (9,500 ft-lb) and on-board air (1,700 cfm), which will in turn lead to fast penetration rates and maximum drilling capability. The drill is equipped with patented Hammer/Tricone Pipe Rack making it suitable for both softrock conditions with tricome drilling and hardrock conditions with DTH drilling.
