Type 4949 is manufactured to evaluate the exact surface pressure, particularly in vehicle applications. It is absolutely perfect for mounting straight on the car surface while wind-tunnel tests and also for simple evaluation in cramped spaces. For example on the firewall or beneath of a vehicle.

The spare mounting pads permit simple mounting of the microphone even on the bended surfaces of the vehicle. Type 4949 is a solid and stable microphone despite its minor size. The microphone unit, metallic parts of the diaphragm-back-plate adjustment and the diaphragm are all made of titanium to protect extremely high resistance to corrosion.
