The immersion transducer is a single element longitudinal wave transducer with a 1/4 wavelength layer that is matched acoustically to water. It is created for transmitting ultrasound in applications with test parts that are fully or partially submerged in water. It provides fast and uniform coupling for the fast scanning of the parts. The transducer performance and sensitivity in a specific area may be increased by adding focusing lens. The focus of the immersion transducer can be cylindrical or spherical depending on the request within the allowed focal range of a given element size and frequency.
