A dependable instrument, the Omega tipping bucket rain gauge RG-2500 Series is an ideal tool for precipitation measurement. The device can employ an 8 to 12 inch screened funnel collector which is connected to a tipping bucket assembly where the rainfall is collected. If rainfall collection has reached 0.01, the assembly tips, activates the magnetic reed switch where the rainwater will be transferred at the base of the gauge. Each increment of rainfall activates a small electrical contact. The data collected from these impulses are used to operate the data collection tool. It can prevent debris from entering the gauge.
