The M18T series consist of specialized non-contact sensors that generally act as passive receivers. An item's thermal radiation within a wave length range of 8 up to 14 µm is metamorphosed into an electrical signal through the use of a thermopile and the byproduct is then modified as an output signal. The distance to spot ratio determines the measuring field diameter at a specified span is a defining factor in this entire procedure. The most advantageous configuration is successfully accomplished if the measuring field is entirely enveloped by the target surface where the temperature of which is to be monitored.
