The Arc KU AJ 95 Metal spray Gun utilises electrical energy to melt a metal and compressed air to atomize and project the molten metal in a fine spray onto a prepared work surface. During operation a potential difference of 18 to 40 volts applied across the two metal wires, initiates an arc that melts the tips of the wires. Compressed air is directed across the arc zone, shearing off molten droplets which form the atomized spray. The wires are continuously fed to the arc position by a drive mechanism operated by an air motor. A narrow angle also increases the cross sectional area of the wire tips exposed to the arc. This allows wires to absorb more heat and makes for a more stable arc.
Compressed air, besides atomizing the molten metal, also cools the metal and keeps the work surface cool, with an insignificant temperature rise.
