In the course of the evolution man has been looking increasingly for means of power transmission and transformation of energy into motion to move forward. The gear wheel has always been playing an important role.
It was in 330 B.C. when Aristoteles was the first to mention gear wheels. With the industrial revolution and the development of the automotive industry the problem of motion transmission and of gear mechanism gained more and more relevance. Todays gear mechanisms are mostly highly complicated structures in various layouts. However, the decisive factor in the whole progression is and remains the gear wheel. Meanwhile, the machining is a very complex process; only the choice of the suitable technologies allows a highly efficient production. All involved components must fulfill a high degree of precision. One of the co-decisive link in this chain is the clamping device.
