Spherical Ball Bushings can accommodate shafts or rods that have misalignment in variable amounts. This device can also manage high radial loads and is suitable for highly demanding applications. These could be applications with marginal lubrication, extreme speed and critical stress requirements. Most of these are made using a plain bearing and ball bushing that are present inside a lined and a cylindrical housing. This helps in providing lubrication or reducing friction.
Spherical Ball Bushings are also available in a lubrication free version. The liners and metal balls are made of bronze, steel or iron. Whereas, non-metallic balls and liners are made out of nylon, plastic or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). These balls can also come with large bores for heavy duty applications. The spherical rollers allow axial loading.
