The VL-type slide valves utilize highly-durable sliding blades manufactured from carbon, stainless steel or the WAM®-created SINT® engineering polymer composite. This polymer composite is also used to partially coat a stainless steel or two-piece carbon body frame, notably increasing the base resistance level of the valve against abrasion in comparison to traditional models.

The VLQ models utilize a square valve, while the VLC models feature a circular opening. A third model, the VLS version, is fitted with a square opening in addition to a pneumatic actuator that has been integrated into the frame.
