It is difficult to over-emphasize the importance of truing and dressing grinding wheels. Dressing generally restores the cutting ability and exposure of the abrasives on the wheel surface. The dressing must be performed after truing or whenever the wheel surface is found to be locked or glazed. Unwanted residue like steel particles and braze are removed by dressing, from the wheel surface. A small portion of the bond material is also removed by dressing, which allows effective cutting action. The procedure of eliminating any unwanted "run-out" is called truing. The four dresser types include Impregnated diamond, Forming diamond, Multi-point diamond and Single point diamond.
